Blue Ridge Cohousing will include the following standard cohousing rooms in its
Common House, as seen at Shadowlake Village Cohousing (SLV):
BRC will also include the following two rooms in its Common House:
1) Offices
- Soundproofed
- The number of them will be determined by the initial members before we design
- Discuss visitation rules later (how much and what type of traffic)
- Definitely office rentals. Possibly also allow office ownership if it proves to be
practical.
2) Multipurpose Room
- big flat-screen TV for VHS/DVD only. Possible Fri, Sat, Sun videos.
- No TV reception or cable or satellite
- Ideally around 30’ * 30’
Other possible rooms to be determined later based on demand.
We’ll allocate space for these but not necessarily finish them. Or they might be
within other rooms, such as the multipurpose room.
- Workshop
- Teen room
- Craft room
- Music room
BRC will include the following function to be placed in the above rooms (exact
place TBD when designing the Common House):
BRC will endeavor to make spaces as flexible as possible. For example, the
above-described rooms could potentially be parts of a larger space with dividers.

- Industrial kitchen
- Dining area
- Sitting area
- Meeting room
- Kid’s room including a large closet for supplies (consider putting room next
to kitchen as at Cobb Hill) - Bathrooms
- Guest rooms
- Bathroom for guest rooms
BRC will also include the following two rooms in its Common House:
